Update, September 16:
34-year-old Miguel Ignacio Garcia Martinez has been sentenced by a Washoe County judge after a conviction on attempted murder with the use of a deadly weapon and battery with the use of a deadly weapon causing substantial bodily harm.
He was sentenced to 55 years in prison and will be eligible for parole after 20 years.
Martinez was arrested in August of 2024, after a report of a shooting and a fire.
Before police arrived, a couple driving by saw the smoke and stopped to call 911. That's when Martinez began shooting at them. A neighbor also came out to see what was happening, and Martinez shot at him as well.
One of the victims sustained a gunshot wound to the hand between her thumb and index finger.
An investigation of the fire revealed that Martinez attempted to light the roof of his home on fire; however, when he was unsuccessful, he ignited the bushes behind his home.
The fire eventually spread and burned the defendant’s home and backyard shed, a neighboring home, and the open space between the homes.
Update, August 5:
The name of the suspect arrested has been released.
34-year-old Miguel Ignacio Garcia Martinez was arrested on Sunday and faces charges including two counts of attempted murder, two counts of assault, and one count of battery.
He also faces three charges of third-degree arson and one charge of first-degree arson.
Authorities say they have connected Martinez to a group of intentionally set fires that happened in the same area on Sunday.
Crews with Truckee Meadows Fire and Rescue put out a fire at a home in Sun Valley.

Update:
WCSO says a suspect is in custody after deputies responded to a report of shots fired.
They say a person was shot while in a moving car, but they are unsure whether the person was the driver or a passenger.
One victim has been taken to the hospital with unknown injuries.
Folks are asked to avoid the area between Summerhill Drive and Big Knob Drive in Sun Valley.
There is no outstanding threat to the community at this time.
