If you’ve ever wanted to see an air show from behind the scenes, Minden-Tahoe SkyFest is looking for volunteers to help make this year’s event happen.
The longtime Carson Valley aviation event, formerly known as the Aviation Roundup, returns Oct. 16-18 at the Minden-Tahoe Airport in Minden with a new name and an expanded experience.
Hosted by Douglas County, Nevada, and the Minden-Tahoe Airport, SkyFest needs volunteers for guest services, parking coordination, exhibitor support, and event logistics.
Volunteers will play a key role in helping welcome thousands of visitors to Northern Nevada’s only air show.
"Volunteers are essential to the success of SkyFest," said Heather MacDonnell, airport director for Minden-Tahoe Airport. "This event showcases not only incredible aviation talent, but also the spirit of our community as a welcoming event. We invite residents to join us behind the scenes and help create an unforgettable experience for visitors from throughout the region."
This year’s event will feature aviation performances, military demonstrations, aerobatic performers, skydiving exhibitions and static displays, along with a Friday evening airshow and drone experience.
The Patriots Jet Team will headline the event. Its pilots include veterans of the U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds, U.S. Navy Blue Angels, and frontline military fighter squadrons.
The event draws visitors from the local region, Northern California, and beyond, with the Sierra Nevada providing the backdrop.
