On Saturday, March 15, the Nevada Highway Patrol teamed up with the Lyon and Churchill County Sheriff's Offices in a DUI enforcement operation.

This highly visible and proactive operation was run along the US 50, US 50 alternate, and US 95 alternate.

Officials say the goal of the operation was to remove impaired drivers from our roads and educate people on the dangers of driving distracted or impaired.

The operation resulted in just over 170 stops; with 7 DUI arrests, 97 tickets being issued, and 3 other arrests.

"Our troopers are committed to keeping Nevada’s roads safe," said Nevada Highway Patrol Major Munoz. "Driving under the influence and speeding continue to be the top contributing factors for fatalities on our roadways. We remind motorists to always plan for a safe and sober ride and never drive impaired."
