Nevada State Police calendar submission

The Nevada State Police Highway Patrol is competing for the top spot in the American Association of State Troopers (AAST) “Best Looking Cruiser” contest and is asking the public to spread the word and support Nevada troopers by voting on their behalf.

Last year, Nevada placed third, earning a spot in the AAST calendar.

This year, the agency hopes to take the cover with a photo featuring its signature Ford Mustang parked near the Hoover Dam, alongside Nevada’s state animal, the Desert Bighorn Sheep.

“The NHP Ford Mustang, the Hoover Dam, and the Desert Bighorn each symbolize the innovation, grit, and resilience that define Nevada,” the department said.

The long-exposure photo was captured by T. Nathan Grant of TNG Photography using a technique known as light painting.

The three-hour shoot took place at the Hoover Dam and the Mike O’Callaghan-Pat Tillman Memorial Bridge.

The department thanked the U.S. Department of the Interior, Bureau of Reclamation, as well as photographic artist T. Nathan Grant, and wildlife artist consultant Clayton Stewart, for their support in the project.

Built during the Great Depression and completed in 1936, the Hoover Dam remains a symbol of American ingenuity and continues to inspire nearly a century later.

To vote, visit this survey link, select Nevada at the bottom of the selections, and submit your ballot before the deadline on Friday, July 11 at 2 p.m. PST.
