This football season, local businesses are partnering with the Nevada Humane Society to Back the Pack at a series of tailgates before home games.
"We are in the midst of our Pick of the Pack raffle," said Kait Cole, philanthropy coordinator for the Nevada Humane Society. "We are so excited to be selling raffle tickets for a car donated by Carson City Toyota or $15,000."
Tickets are on sale online and at home games; the tailgates are a chance to see some of the animals looking for their forever home, and grab a brew courtesy of local taphouse, Beer NV.
"At the tailgates, we're out there supporting the Humane Society by giving out free beer," said Jaimi Ficco, Owner of Beer NV. "Come and see us and the Humane Society, get a raffle ticket, visit a kitty and have a beer on us. We're going to be supporting local breweries the next three games with Pigeon Head and the new brewery Parlay 6. We're thankful this community is so involved with causes like this, Reno locals are always so supportive, not only with businesses, but with the things we call care about."
Kitten season is still going strong, so the shelter is looking for foster and forever families.
"This community is incredible," Cole said. "We're so lucky to be a part of it and able to help all these pets because of donations and fundraisers like this so we can help tons of animals. We're helping more than 10,000 animals each year find their very happy homes."
