The Nevada Health Authority is requesting public input as it prepares an application for new federal funds available through the One Big Beautiful Bill Act, which aims to support and transform rural health care systems.
“We are looking forward to finding opportunities to invest these new federal funds to ensure the sustainability of our rural hospitals and health care system,” said NV Health Authority Director Stacie Weeks, “while continuing toward our goal for Nevadans to have access to affordable, reliable health care.”
The funding opportunity comes from the Rural Health Transformation Program, a $50 billion fund established under the One Big Beautiful Bill Act.
According to a White House memorandum, the program is designed to help states enhance access to care in rural communities by focusing on hospitals and other key health care access points.
Community members, including rural health care providers, hospitals, public health leaders, and county health officers, are encouraged to offer input through a survey available at the bottom of the NVHA Rural Health Transformation Program webpage.
Summarized results from the survey will be presented in a virtual community workshop planned for the end of the month.
Public comments are due to the Nevada Health Authority by September 22.
Applications for the federal funding must be submitted to the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services for review and approval. Funds are expected to be distributed no later than December 31.
More information about the program and application process is available on the NVHA Rural Health Transformation Program webpage.
