Nevada is getting a new state fire marshal next month after the current one retires.Â
The current Fire State Marshal, Mike Dzyak will retire on September 12 and then the next day Joseph Rodriguez will take over.Â
Dzyak worked for the state of Nevada for 25 years.Â
Rodriguez has a background in firefighting, military service and law enforcement, starting his career at age 18 as a firefighter with the BLM. He also served as a volunteer firefighter in North Washoe County.
After that, he served more than 11 years in the Nevada National Guard.
The Nevada State Fire Marshal Division is a division of the Nevada Department of Public Safety/Nevada State Police.
