Nevada has a new state fire marshal.
Joseph Rodriguez succeeded Mike Dzyak who retired last month after working for the state for 25 years.
Rodriguez has a background in firefighting, military service and law enforcement, starting his career at age 18 as a firefighter with the BLM. He also served as a volunteer firefighter in North Washoe County.
After that, he served more than 11 years in the Nevada National Guard.
“I’m deeply honored to serve as Nevada’s State Fire Marshal,” Rodriguez said. “I want to thank Director Togliatti and the Department’s leadership for their trust and support. It’s a privilege to lead a division so committed to fire prevention, life safety, and public service in communities across our state.”
The Nevada State Fire Marshal Division is a division of the Nevada Department of Public Safety/Nevada State Police.
