U.S. Senator Jacky Rosen

Multiple Nevada U.S. officials are reacting to the U.S. Operation in Venezuela.

Congressman Steven Horsford, and U.S. Senator Jacky Rosen said congress should have been aware of the operation.

Congressman Steven Horsford in his statement, said, “Only Congress can approve military force in an act of war – that’s why I led an effort calling for Congressional notification for ANY military action.”

“Oversight, transparency, and accountability are not just ‘nice-to-haves’ – they’re what the American people expect, what our service members in harm’s way deserve, and what our Constitution requires," he added.

U.S. Senator Jackey Rosen also released a statement saying this operation leads into more conflicts overseas.

"This illegal regime change operation won’t make our country safer and risks destabilizing the region, dragging us into additional military conflicts, and increasing the amount of immigrants seeking refuge at our border,” said Senator Rosen.

Senator Rosen also added that this operation puts our military personnel in harm's way, “The decision to jeopardize the safety of our brave men and women in this way is a heavy responsibility that cannot be made without the input of the American people through its representatives in Congress."

Congresswoman Susie Lee says there are many questions, and the American People are against another forever war.

“At the same time, right now, we have more questions for the Trump Administration than answers. The American people are opposed to another forever war. These strikes came without the approval of Congress or the American people," said Congresswoman Lee.

She also added, "Throughout history, too often the United States started wars without a plan to end them, losing too many of our sons and daughters along the way."

Senator Cortez Masto also says that this operation is not aligned with the U.S. Constitution.

"The Constitution is clear, the President doesn’t get a free pass to put Americans at risk and ignore the rule of law or democratic norms," said Senator Masto.

She also added, "President Trump made a dangerous decision to bypass Congress with his actions in Venezuela, and so far he has offered no real details on plans for the future other than a vague assertion that the “United States will be running the country.”

Congresswoman Dina Titus has added herself to the conversation about where the Constitution aligns with the operation

She agrees with Senator Cortez Masto on that the constitution doesn't align with President Trumps actions in Venezuela.

Congresswoman Titus said, "Instead of properly briefing lawmakers regularly about the military buildup in the Caribbean, consulting with those on relevant national security committees, and seeking authorization from congress, President Trump and Secretaries Rubio and Hegseth obfuscated, lied, and misled me and colleagues in the very few briefings we had."
