All Washoe County Schools will be session August 17 after some were closed due to fire evacuations north of Reno.
In a release to parents the district wrote,
"In consultation with public safety officials, the District will open all schools on Monday, August 17.
We want to thank our brave firefighters and first responders for their continuing work and efforts to protect our families, homes, schools, and community.
We know this is not the start of the school year any of us expected. We have been informed that it is now safe to resume classes, and we are excited to welcome back all students and staff members who are able to attend.
With that said, WCSD understands that we will not be welcoming back all of our families. But we are eager to bring as many of our students and staff members as possible back to school, some for the first time this school year.
As a reminder, bus transportation will not be able to operate in the areas designated as “red” or “yellow,” meaning those that have been evacuated or are standing by for possible evacuation.

We look forward to welcoming our students back to school where they can begin their classes, see their friends and teachers, and start the school year strong, just as they deserve.
Once again, all schools will be in session on Monday, August 17.
Thank you."
