North Lyon Fire knocked out a small brush fire in Fernley Saturday afternoon.
It started just before 2 p.m. in the area of Westerlund Lane near the intersection of Ranch Road.
When crews arrived, they found an active fire burning a 30'x30' area of light vegetation, spreading into a large cottonwood tree.
No one was hurt and there was no damage to any structures in the area.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
