North Lyon firefighters responded to reports of black smoke and flames north of Interstate 80 near Mile Marker 52, east of Fernley, just after 3 a.m. Sunday.
When crews arrived, they found an overturned car on fire in a remote area off the highway.
Firefighters quickly put out the flames and kept the fire from spreading to nearby vegetation.
North Lyon Fire says no one was hurt.
The cause of the fire has not been released.
