A pilot suffered minor injuries in a plane crash in Spring Creek on Thursday morning.
It happened just before 10 a.m. in the area of State Route 227 and State Route 228, according to a post from the Elko County Sheriff's Office on Facebook.
A witness saw a small plane crash into a field in the area of the two roads.
The pilot, identified as John Rice, told deputies he had been doing test flights around the City of Elko Airport in recent days, and took this flight further, into the Spring Creek area.
He said he lost power to the engine and started to descend.
Rice tried to land on State Route 228, but there were too many vehicles to do so.
He then tried to land in a large field.
After touching down and rolling for around 50 feet, Rice hit a small ditch, causing his front wheel and the front of his plane to dig into the ground and come to a stop.
Rice was the only person on board and suffered minor injuries.
The FAA has been notified of the incident.
