The lanes at Coconut Bowl in Sparks will come alive with community spirit next month as Seniors in Service hosts its 11th annual Pirates Pins and Pints fundraiser.

The event is scheduled for Sunday, October 26, from noon to 3 p.m., and raises essential funding for programs that assist low-income, isolated seniors and children throughout the region.

Seniors in Service, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, depends on this event to help sustain its work.

According to the organization, senior volunteers contribute more than 150,000 hours of service annually.

"This is a great opportunity for the community to come together and bowl for a great cause," organizers said.

Teams of up to six can register and are encouraged to come up with creative names and join the costume contest. Tickets are $40 per person or $30 for children 14 and under. A six-person team can sign up for $220.

Each ticket includes two games of bowling, shoe rental, and a $10 Wild Island gift card.

The event also features prizes, a raffle, and silent auctions.

Sponsorships are available at various levels, and those interested in supporting the event further are encouraged to visit the website for details.

Proceeds benefit the Foster Grandparent and Senior Companion Programs, which pair senior volunteers with children and other seniors in need of companionship and support.
