Around 10:00 a.m. on May 30, the Carson City Sheriff’s Office says Real-Time Information Center (RTIC) received information that an attempted murder suspect from Stanislaus County, California was possibly in Carson City.

The suspect was identified as 40-year-old Troy Wayne McComak. He is accused of being involved in a domestic incident involving a firearm in Hughson, California on May 28th.

Carson City deputies say McComak ran from the scene of that crime and was reported to be armed and wearing body armor. Investigators believed McComak may have went to Carson City and they say he stated that he would fight and kill law enforcement officers.

McComak’s vehicle was identified as a 2009 Saturn sedan with California license plates.

A license plate reader alerted the RTIC that McComak’s vehicle was in Carson City during the late-morning hours of May 30th.

The RTIC, Sheriff’s Office, and the Nevada Department of Investigation: Tri-County Narcotics Task Force (TRINET) helped find McComak on Conestoga Drive in North Carson City.

Investigators set up surveillance in the area and used a law enforcement drone to assist in the investigation. Using the drone, detectives saw McComak leave the house and that's when they arrested him.

McComak is being held at the Carson City Detention Center on a $500,000 bond for the following charges:

  • Fugitive from Justice for Warrant Charging
  • Attempted Murder
  • Violation of a Domestic Violence Restraining Order
  • Prevent or Dissuade a Witness
