Reno families can get a head start on Thanksgiving dinner at a free community celebration offering turkeys, children's activities, refreshments, and opportunities to connect with local resources.
SilverSummit Healthplan is partnering with the Boys & Girls Club of Truckee Meadows to host the Friendsgiving celebration from 4 to 6:30 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 6, at the club, located at 2680 E. 9th St. in Reno.
The event will offer free turkeys to the first 100 families in attendance, with a limit of one turkey per household. Families must be present to receive a turkey.
Children can enjoy face painting by Fantasy Face Paintings, while guests can also take part in music and entertainment with Juan from ReNoticias. The celebration will include raffle prizes, light snacks, and refreshments.
Families will also have an opportunity to connect with local community organizations and get information and support related to Medicaid.
All activities and refreshments will be available while supplies last.
SilverSummit Healthplan said the event is intended to bring families together while connecting them with health care information, community resources, and supportive services ahead of the holiday season.
