The Storey County Sheriff's Office (SCSO) has released information about an incident that took place on Saturday in Virginia City.
According to SCSO, at around 3:45 p.m. on Saturday, June 28, deputies were called to the area of B Street and Union Street for a report of shots fired.
When deputies arrived on scene, they learned that the alleged shooter had left the area on foot. They acted quickly and found 63-year-old Steven Bowron of Reno, and placed him under arrest.
During an investigation, deputies learned that Bowron had been drunk and gotten into an argument with some family members over having his keys taken away from him.
As the family members left the scene, Bowron grabbed a gun and allegedly fired six shots in the direction of the vehicle. He then fled the area and attempted to discard the gun in a parking lot shortly before he was arrested.
Deputies found the gun and six casings in the area where Bowron allegedly shot the gun.
The two people in the car were evaluated and did not suffer any injuries. The victims' vehicle did have bullet holes on the driver's side.
Bowron was booked into the Storey County Detention Facility and is being held on the following charges:
- Attempted murder with use of a deadly weapon (two counts)
- Destroying or concealing evidence
- Possessing a firearm while under the influence of alcohol
- Discharging a firearm in public
- Disregard for safety of person or property
- Discharging firearm at or into a vehicle
Bowron's bail was set at $175,140.
