Reno Police Living Donor Drive

On Friday, April 25, the Reno Police Department will host a living donor drive in support of Jeremy Clark, one of its public safety dispatchers who has served the Reno community for 26 years.

The event will take place from 3:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. in the community engagement room at the Reno Police Department's main station, located at 911 Kuenzli Street.

Public Safety Dispatcher Clark was diagnosed with stage 3B kidney failure in 2017.

His condition has since progressed to stage 5, with only 7% kidney function remaining.  He recently began dialysis treatment and is now in need of a kidney transplant.

Dispatcher Jeremy Clark is seeking a living donor, someone whose generosity could restore his quality of life and help ensure he can continue to be present for his children and grandchildren.

The department hopes to raise awareness about living donation, which can allow for earlier transplants and may offer improved outcomes for recipients like Jeremy, compared to waiting for a deceased donor.

Living donors are typically able to maintain healthy and full lives following donation.

Those interested in learning more about becoming a donor will have access to educational materials at the event on Friday.

Individuals wishing to be considered as potential donors for Jeremy Clark will be asked to complete a preliminary questionnaire to begin the process.  The transplant team will contact those who may be eligible for further evaluation.

According to the Reno Police Department, Clark has spent more than two decades helping to save lives in the community. Now, they say, it’s time to try to save his.

The event is open to the public, and community members are encouraged to attend to learn more about the process of living donation, and how they may be able to help Jeremy Clark.
