UPDATE - July 17:
Reno Pro Soccer and Reno Public Market are preparing for one final Soccer Watch Party as the tournament comes to a close, inviting fans to gather for the championship match between Argentina and Spain at noon Sunday at Reno Public Market.
Fans of all teams who played in the tournament are encouraged to wear their jerseys and soccer attire and join the event, where the match will be shown on Reno Public Market’s large screen above the main stage.
The event continues a partnership that has made Reno Public Market the home for Reno Pro Soccer’s watch parties since June as the organization builds excitement for its future professional soccer stadium in southeast Reno.
The final watch party will feature raffles, prizes and a $1 beer special provided by Reno Pro Soccer and event sponsor Bank of America. Fans will also have the opportunity to become founding season ticket holders for the new stadium once it is completed.
Doors open at 10 a.m., with other entrances closed and security checks in place. Outside food and drinks are not allowed.
Organizers advise that seating will be available on a first-come, first-served basis, and there will not be publicly reserved tables. The main screen will show the match in Spanish, while an Upper Mezzanine viewing area will show the game in English.
ORIGINAL STORY - June 1:
Reno Pro Soccer and Reno Public Market are partnering this month to host a series of soccer watch parties aimed at bringing Northern Nevada’s soccer community together while building excitement for Reno’s future professional soccer stadium and development in south Reno.
Fans are invited to gather at Reno Public Market, which will serve as the city’s soccer watch party headquarters, with matches shown on the venue’s large screen above the main stage. Events will include raffles, prizes, drink specials, appearances by local dignitaries, and opportunities to learn more about Reno Pro Soccer and its plans for the region.
“Globally, soccer has a unique ability to bring people together across cultures, backgrounds, and generations,” said Wendy Damonte, CEO of Reno Pro Soccer. “These events are about more than watching matches; they’re about creating connection, celebrating the global game, and re-establishing a soccer culture that belongs to Northern Nevada."
Reno Pro Soccer representatives will host information tables and prize giveaways beginning one hour before each match kickoff, or before the first match on June 19.
The scheduled watch parties include Mexico vs. South Africa at noon June 11; USA vs. Paraguay at 6 p.m. June 12; Uzbekistan vs. Colombia at 7 p.m. June 17; and a full day of matches June 19, beginning with USA vs. Australia at noon, followed by Scotland vs. Morocco at 3 p.m., Brazil vs. Haiti at 5:30 p.m. and Turkey vs. Paraguay at 8 p.m.
Reno Public Market will also display all tournament matches during normal business hours. Additional watch parties may be added later in the tournament, depending on venue availability and other scheduled events.
“These watch parties are an opportunity to celebrate the world’s game with our community while sharing the vision for professional soccer in Reno,” said John Doyle, president of Reno Pro Soccer. “We’re excited to create an energetic atmosphere where fans from all backgrounds can come together to support the sport.”
