After five days on horseback and covering more than 60 miles, the Reno Rodeo Cattle Drive arrived at the Reno-Sparks Livestock Events Center on Thursday around noon.

The event is organized by the Reno Rodeo Association and features experienced trail bosses, Reno Rodeo volunteers, and guests from across the country.

The drive includes short-horned cattle and mule or horse-drawn wagons carrying food and supplies, styled after 1800s-era equipment.

Riders spent the week guiding cattle across high desert terrain while facing sun, wind, and changing weather conditions.

The final stretch brought the group through northeast Reno in a public procession along Clear Acre Lane, McCarran Boulevard, Sutro Street, Oddie Boulevard, and Wells Avenue, ending at the rodeo grounds at 1350 N. Wells Ave.

According to the Reno Rodeo Association, the cattle drive offers participants a chance to experience life on the trail and take part in one of the signature traditions that leads into the annual rodeo.

2 News Nevada captured video and photos of the final leg of the journey.
