Renown Health announced the opening of the new Specialty Care Center and multiple enhancements across Renown South Meadows Medical Center on Monday.
The improvements are intended to improve access to essential and advanced care to meet growing demand in south Reno and Carson City.
A ribbon-cutting ceremony was held on Monday for the new center.
Construction of the new building began in spring 2022, with more than 616,000 work hours and 1,000 skilled workers on-site throughout the project to build the 121,000-square-foot facility.
The first floor of the new facility houses expanded laboratory and diagnostic services, featuring a state-of-the-art cardiac catheterization and electrophysiology lab as well as a new dining facility and kitchen.
The second floor has a new surgical center with 6 operating rooms designed for streamlined procedures, equipped with robotic technology.
The third floor is the future home of the Conrad Breast Center, opening in June 2025. It will offer advanced breast health services, including imaging, risk assessment, genetic counseling, breast surgical oncology, breast medical oncology, infusion services, nurse navigators, a pharmacy, a wellness center, and a clinical research center.
Renown has also made enhancements to its existing South Meadows facility, including to the lobby and public spaces. They have also streamlined admissions, expanded procedure and operating rooms, and added private patient and family rooms.
