People in need of affordable housing in Carson City have an opportunity to apply for a voucher wait list.
Nevada Rural Housing is now accepting applications for the Richards Crossing Project-Based Voucher waitlist, which provides an opportunity for those experiencing homelessness in the Carson City area.
The wait list will be open until March 28 according to a release from Nevada Rural Housing.
Richards Crossing is a permanent supportive housing community designed to help people transition from homelessness to stability.
The community features one-bedroom apartments with rental assistance through the Section 8 Project-Based Voucher Program.
Residents will only pay 30% of their income toward rent.
Eight units are reserved for chronically homeless veterans, with rental assistance provided by the U.S. Veterans Administration.
Beyond providing shelter, Richards Crossing offers on-site support services and connections to local resources that help residents regain independence.
The community is located near pharmacies, restaurants, and shopping, allowing residents easy access to daily essentials.
Amenities and support services include:Â

- Community room, game room and library
- Business center, computer lab and tenant support services
- Food pantry and community garden
- Fitness room and dog park
- Laundry facilities and ADA-accessible units
