A rollover crash killed a four-year-old boy on I-80 west near Winnemucca last Sunday morning.

Nevada State Police troopers say the crash happened just after 9:15 a.m. near mile marker 147 (county mile marker 58 Pershing).

NSP says the driver was heading east in a Chevrolet Silverado pickup when it crossed both lanes, hitting a paved shoulder. That's when the driver overcorrected to the right causing the truck to spin, then went across the eastbound lanes sideways, off the roadway and then overturned.

NSP says the young child was not wearing a seat belt and was partially thrown from the truck, where he died.

The unidentified driver was transported from the scene with suspected minor injuries.

The investigation is ongoing.
