Sand Harbor State Park will be closing its boat ramp and boat parking two days every week beginning Tuesday, August 13 due to ongoing staffing shortages.
The closures will take place every Tuesday and Wednesday and are expected to remain in place through the end of September 2024.
The Nevada Division of State Parks says that the temporary closures are necessary to ensure the safety of all its visitors since there are limited resources available to maintain the park facilities. Â
During the closure days, visitors will not be able to launch or park any watercraft or cars at Sand Harbor State Park.Â
Another boat ramp option visitors can consider during the Sand Harbor closure days is Lake Tahoe Cave Rock State Park, located on Highway 50 in Glenbrook, Nevada just south of Cave Rock.Â
The Sand Harbor boat ramp and parking will remain open as usual Thursday through Monday.
The Nevada Division of State Parks says that the park is committed to providing a safe and enjoyable experience to all its visitors.
They are actively addressing and seeking solutions to their staffing needs and apologize for the inconvenience the closures cause to boaters and visitors to the park and appreciate the public's understanding as they work through this challenge.Â
