Jason Shipman, Principal at Florence Drake Elementary School in Sparks, was announced as Senator Cortez Masto's guest to President Trump's upcoming address.

Senator Cortez Masto pulled from her own experience in her announcement, saying, "I’m the product of Nevada public schools – from kindergarten all the way to my time at UNR – and I know the difference a good education can make in a child’s life."

"As schools across the country face the potential cuts to of critical federal funding, I won’t abandon our educators. I’m proud to work with Nevada leaders like Principal Shipman to ensure our students have everything they need to thrive."

Senator Cortez Masto has made supporting education a critical focus, including efforts like her legislation to increase the number of mental health professionals in schools, which was signed into law as part of the Safer Communities Act.
