Pickleball

The Sierra Junior Tennis Association has announced a new winter camp to get those with developmental disabilities into the game of pickleball.

The "Tennis Buddies Winter Pickleball Camp" will take place at 3rd Shot Pickleball, at 6895 Sierra Center Parkway, Unit A in Reno.

The camp is one hour long - from 2:00 until 3:00 p.m. - on December 30 and 31, and finishing on January 2 and 3. The cost is $20 for all four days.

The Tennis Buddies camp is meant to offer a fun and supportive environment for people with developmental disabilities to learn the game of pickleball, or improve their skills and fitness levels.

Participants and their parents or caregivers are invited to volunteer and learn alongside their athletes during the camp.

There are some requirements to be able to participate:

  • You must have a developmental disability.
  • You must be able to walk without an assistive device, sidestep to both sides, and follow simple directions.
  • Safety glasses will be provided, and their use is required for all participants.
  • You must be able to find transportation to and from the pickleball facility.

To register, you can sign up on the Sierra Junior Tennis website - space is limited.
