Update (5/12/2025, 1:50 p.m.):

Reno Police Department has provided a small update on the suspect in a recent shooting outside of the Silver Legacy.

They say that the suspect in the shooting is challenging the extradition process.

Reno Police expect that it could take between 30 days and a couple of months for the suspect to be extradited.

Since the suspect in the shooting is a juvenile, Reno Police are not currently able to provide a name of the suspect, or where the suspect is being held.

UPDATE - MAY 7: 

The Washoe County Regional Medical Examiner’s Office has identified the man who died following a shooting near the intersection of 4th Street and Virginia Street in Reno on May 1.

The deceased has been identified as 34-year-old Oscar Henderson of Sparks.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The cause of death was determined to be a gunshot wound to the torso, and the manner of death was ruled a homicide.

The Reno Police Department is leading the ongoing law enforcement investigation.


Update May 3:

With help from the California Highway Patrol and other local agencies, Reno Police found the juvenile suspect in this case near Santa Cruz, California.

On Friday, May 2, the Santa Cruz Police Department SWAT arrest the suspect without incident.

The suspect's identity is being withheld for now, due to the suspect's age.

Police are investigating a shooting that killed a man in downtown Reno on Thursday night. 

It happened near 4th and Sierra Streets outside the Silver Legacy, just before 8 p.m.

Police say it's an isolated incident and do not have a suspect at this time.

The victim's name hasn't been released.
