South Lake Tahoe Food Drive

Christmas Cheer All Year, a South Lake Tahoe community food pantry, is asking the community for canned food donations as shelves are running empty.

The food pantry is facing a severe shortage of canned food and non-perishable items as demand is surging.

“This is one of the most challenging shortages we’ve ever experienced,” said Doug Williams, Board Member of Christmas Cheer. “Our cabinet is empty. The need is real, the need is local, and the need is right now.”

The food bank says normally the shelves are stocked to support families throughout the holiday season. As winter is approaching, more households are struggling to afford basic groceries, according to the food bank.

Christmas Cheer All Year asks the public to donate canned goods, dry goods, and shelf-stable items to help restock the pantry.

“For years, Stateline and South Lake Tahoe have stepped up for its neighbors,” said Dreu Murin, organizer for the canned food drive. “We are asking everyone—every household, every business, every visitor—to help us fill the shelves again.”

They say every donation, large or small, directly supports local seniors, families, and individuals who rely on these vital services to get through the season.

Anybody who wishes to donate can at the Christmas Cheer All Long location.

The food bank says anybody who can't donate in person can also support by using the QR code on the flyer below.

Requested Items Include:

  • Canned vegetables, soups, beans, and sauces
  • Canned meats (tuna, chicken, chili)
  • Pasta and pasta sauces
  • Rice, boxed meals, and instant foods
  • Peanut butter and other high-protein items
