A Sparks family was taken to the hospital on Tuesday after firefighters detected dangerously high levels of carbon monoxide in their home.
On Tuesday afternoon, firefighters with the Sparks Fire Department responded to a report of a gas odor in the home, according to a post on Facebook.
Readings of carbon monoxide in the home exceeded 500 parts per million.
The family was evacuated and taken to the hospital by REMSA.
Fire crews ventilated the home and worked with NV Energy to make sure the scene was safe.
People are advised to make sure they have working carbon monoxide detectors in their homes. It is odorless, colorless, and extremely dangerous.
