The Sparks Police Department has announced the arrests of Lyna and Aaron Phipps, both of Cassel, California, for organized retail theft.

On August 22, officers with the Neighborhood Police Unit started investigating a string of thefts that happened at Scheels at Legends in Sparks.

The thefts occurred on August 20, 21 and 22, and involved the same two people.

The two suspects were then identified as 55-year old Lyna Phipps and 55-year old Aaron Phipps.

Over the course of those three days, the Phipps stole over $6,000 worth of merchandise.

After looking over the store's surveillance footage, the NPU officers determined that the Phipps' actions constituted organized retail theft, which is a felony here in Nevada.

Thursday, September 19, the Phipps were located at a local casino and arrested and charged with organized retail theft and conspiracy to participate in organized retail theft.
