Sparks Police arrest generic

Six people were arrested or cited during a targeted operation against retail theft at a Home Depot and Walmart in Sparks on Wednesday.

The Sparks Police Department partnered with the stores to address ongoing theft issues, focusing on apprehending people involved in shoplifting and related crimes.

Among those taken into custody was 46-year-old Austin Garner, who was charged with first-degree commercial burglary and possession of burglary tools. 38-year-old Luis Magana-Cervantes was cited for petit larceny and a misdemeanor warrant. 45-year-old Elidania Rivas was also taken into custody on a misdemeanor warrant, while 40-year-old David Mena-Padilla received a citation for petit larceny.

Additional arrests included 53-year-old John Hill, who faces charges for petit larceny, obstructing a public officer, possession of a stolen car, possession of stolen property, and obtaining money under false pretenses. 61-year-old Jack Inocelda was cited for altering a sales receipt or inventory pricing label and had two misdemeanor warrants.

The Sparks Police Department, in coordination with the Sparks City Attorney’s Office and the Washoe County District Attorney’s Office, stated it maintains a zero-tolerance policy for retail theft and will continue efforts to prosecute shoplifters in the city.
