Starting on December 10, the SPCA of Northern Nevada will be launching a new program designed to get more animals spayed and neutered.
The program is a voucher program, offering affordable spay/neuter surgeries for dogs and cats through participating local veterinary clinics.
Spaying and neutering is vital for helping to reduce unwanted litters and limiting the growing number of homeless pets.
Participants can get a dog voucher (for dogs up to 99 pounds) for $130, and a cat voucher for $50.
To qualify for a voucher, applicants must submit proof of northern Nevada residency and a total household income of $60,000 or less.
Applications open Tuesday, December 10 and only 80 vouchers are available per month.
Interested pet parents can apply for a voucher online at the SPCA of Northern Nevada website.
