Some Nevada voters checking their registration status online found an unexpected message: their voter registration appeared to be “cancelled.”
After receiving several emails and phone calls from viewers about the issue, our newsroom reached out to the Nevada Secretary of State’s Office for answers.
The office said the nightly voter registration files did not update as they normally do over the weekend, which temporarily affected how some voter registrations appeared in the state’s voter portal.
“At no point was the voter registration database or voter data impacted,” the office said.
The Secretary of State’s Office said its team then completed a full revalidation of voter records as part of its standard quality assurance process. The review confirmed voter information had not been affected and that records are now displaying accurately in the system.
“All voter records remained secure with the accurate voter status.”
