Storey County made some improvements for its local community in 2025.

City officials, in an online post, highlight some of their projects. Their projects include the Lockwood Senior and Community Center, the Virginia City Road Rehab, and the purchase of the Mobile Emergency Operations Center and vehicle barriers.

The new community center was made possible through the support of construction crews, Senator Jacky Rosen, Senator Cortez Masto, and a $2.5 million grant in federal funding, according to their city website.

City officials say the Virginia City Road Rehab Project improved safety and accessibility for B Street.

The city also purchased a Mobile Emergency Operations Center and vehicle barriers to improve special event safety, according to their website.

A new swing set was added in the neighborhood of the Virginia City Highlands, providing a new play space.

City officials also say improvements have been made towards their Fire Protection District. The city purchased a four-acre Tri-Center parcel for Fire Station 75, which will house both fire and EMS personnel. Station 71 went under a remodel through the Buy American Act funding. The city also replaced the 1982 Virginia City Ladder Truck with a 2011 model, expected to come in mid-February.
