Community members all over northern Nevada have joined with members of Indivisible Northern Nevada, the Blue Band Alliance, the Northern Nevada Labor Council and others in political "No Kings" protests held today.
Rallies were held in front of the Capitol Building in Carson City, and outside of Rep. Mark Amodei's office in Reno on Saturday, Jun 14 starting around 11:00 a.m.
We also received reports from viewers that smaller protests took place in Incline Village and South Lake Tahoe.
According to rally organizers Indivisible Northern Nevada (INNV), the events in Reno and Carson City are two of more than 1,600 protests held across the country in response to multiple actions carried out by President Trump's administration.
In an afternoon update from INNV, they say that over 9,000 Nevadans participated in the rallies today, based on drone footage and on-site crowd counters.
We spoke with Sheriff Ken Furlong with the Carson City Sheriff's Office, and he said that the rally there happened with nearly no incidents.
Furlong confirmed that an elderly man in a wheelchair was transported to the hospital with minor injuries after an officer's motorcycle allegedly fell and struck the man when the officer parked to handle an escalated counter-protestor.
Sheriff Furlong said only one arrest was made during Carson City's event.
INNV says that all "No Kings" events are committed to nonviolence and community safety, and that organizers and trained in de-escalation and are working closely with local partners to ensure peaceful gatherings.
