Hundreds of trail runners converged on Palisades Tahoe this week for one of the biggest conventions of its kind.

TrailCon invited the community to connect with 60 vendors and partake in 20 panel discussions, all around the sport of trail running.

Brendan Madigan was one of three people who founded the festival three years ago.

"It's really for every stakeholder in the sport,” he said. “So, we encourage everyone to come out and enjoy the fun, try new products, learn things from brands, and get free samples of all the good stuff.”

Madigan says TrailCon has a wide variety of options for anyone to take part in.

"We try to layer in something for everyone, regardless of where you fall in the sport,” he said. “We have amazing activations, you know, running events. We have a great awards program. It's just a lot of fun stuff for people to enjoy between the two races."

The event serves as a bridge between the Broken Arrow Sky Race and Western States Endurance Run, two of the biggest running races on the calendar.

Hundreds of attendees packed the conference from June 22 to 24.

“I am a trail running nerd, and this is paradise for us,” said Jojo Roldan, who visited from San Francisco.

Roldan says his goal is to make the most of his visit from the Bay Area.

“I've been trying to hit all the panels or as many as I can, and all the booths. I work at San Francisco Running Company. So I have a lot of friends in the industry. And just chatting to people, seeing what new products are out there, and just enjoying the vibe," Roldan said.

The festivities may have ended for 2026, but Madigan says TrailCon will be back next year during the third week of June.
