Reno Police say two people have been arrested following an overnight crime spree involving stolen vehicles, car burglaries, a hit-and-run crash and commercial burglaries.
Police say the investigation began August 31, when officers responded to several reports involving damaged and stolen vehicles. Investigators began connecting the incidents across the Reno area.
The next morning, officers responded to a business on East Plumb Lane after a vehicle was allegedly used to break into the building.
Shortly afterward, officers were called to JCPenney at Meadowood Mall after a motion alarm was activated inside the business.
Police say officers found the store had been burglarized and located suspects who fled the area in a stolen vehicle. Another stolen vehicle was also found at the scene, along with suspected stolen property.
Through surveillance footage and coordination among multiple units, officers identified two suspects believed to be connected to the crime spree.
Police located both suspects later that morning. 19-year-old Jaydan Lewellin was arrested. A 17-year-old male suspect fled from officers but was quickly located and detained.
Investigators say they recovered evidence believed to be connected to the crimes, including stolen property, money, tools and clothing. Multiple stolen vehicles were also recovered.
The investigation remains ongoing.
