Two men who attacked an 18-year old man at a Reno park and put him into a coma for several months have been sentenced to prison time.
20-year old Tyler Stokes and 23-year old Kale Krigbaum have been sentenced to 6-15 years for attempted murder, and a consecutive 2-6 years for battery on a prisoner.
The attack happened in December of 2022 - as we'd previously reported, Reno Police were called to a report of a battery. Once they arrived, they found the 18-year old victim severely beaten and bloodied.
The victim was taken to the hospital in critical condition, where he remained in a coma for several months. Doctors have said that he will have cognitive disabilities for the rest of his life.
Deputy District Attorney Aziz Merchant pointed out that while awaiting sentencing, both Stokes and Krigbaum had gotten into fights with other inmates at the Washoe County Jail - he argued that this was further evidence of the pair's violence and the need for a long prison sentence.
