Two people are dead after a fatal crash on SR 140 near the Oregon State Line.

Specifically, the crash happened on State Route 140 near mile marker 95 in Humboldt County, 125 miles northwest of Winnemucca and 15 miles southeast of the Oregon state line, just after 12:45 p.m. on Sunday, March 9.

Nevada State Police troopers say that a blue Ford F-150 truck was on SR140 heading north. The three people inside the F-150 got out to tend to the dogs who were kenneled in the truck bed after the driver pulled over in the northbound travel lane.

On SR140, a white Hyundai Tucson was heading north when it collided with the back of the F-150 and the two F-150 passengers who were standing behind the truck.

They say both cars came to rest in the northbound travel lane facing west after the Hyundai's front end got wedged beneath the F-150's rear.

Troopers say that the crash resulted in fatal injuries to both of the F-150's passengers.

They were identified as 52-year-old Kevin Austin, of Riverdale, Utah, and 61-year-old Glen Meyers, of Sun Valley, Nevada. There were no injuries to the F-150's driver.

Due to potentially fatal injuries, the Hyundai driver was sent to a nearby hospital.

Nevada State Police say that impairment is suspected in this crash.

The Nevada State Police Highway Patrol Traffic Homicide Unit is investigating the crash, which is considered an ongoing investigation.
