The University of Nevada, Reno is asking the community to help stock its on-campus food pantry as rising costs prompt more students to seek support.

ASUN Pack Provisions is hosting a food and coat donation drive from now until December 10.

Any gently used winter wear or nonperishable items go directly to students who need help staying warm or keeping food on the table.

Donations can be dropped off at the ASUN Center for Student Engagement on the third floor of the Joe Crowley Student Union, and financial gifts can be made online.

A recent Civic Engagement survey by the university found that nearly one in three students is experiencing food insecurity.

Pack Provisions recorded 13,927 visits during the 2024-2025 school year, serving about 6,400 unique people.

Staff say the need keeps growing as grocery prices, rent, and other living costs climb.

Pack Provisions relies on donations from the community along with partnerships with the Food Bank of Northern Nevada, Wolf Pack Meats, and the Desert Farming Initiative. Those relationships help the pantry offer free accessible food that supports students in staying fully engaged in campus life.
