The Veterans Guest House needs donations for their food pantry as their shelves are getting bare.
The nonprofit provides free lodging for veterans and their families when they come to Reno/Sparks for medical care, houses more than 30 veterans at a time, and has been breaking capacity records in 2024, according to a release.
The consistent and high number of guests has depleted their supply of perishable and non-perishable food, as well as pantry supplies.
They are asking the community to donate if they can. The items they are looking for can be found below.
- Canned meats (e.g. spam, Vienna sausages, canned chicken, canned tuna, canned salmon, etc.)
- Canned fruits
- Canned soups
- Bottled water
- Cereals
- Individually wrapped chips
- Macaroni and cheese
- Low sodium TV dinners
- Gas and gift cards
