KTMB Great Community Cleanup 2026

If you have a few hours to spare this weekend, there is a chance to make a visible difference across the Truckee Meadows.

Keep Truckee Meadows Beautiful is inviting the community to take part in the Great Community Cleanup on Saturday, May 2, from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m.

Organizers say more than 800 volunteers are expected to spread out across Reno, Sparks and Sun Valley, tackling more than 25 cleanup sites.

Those efforts will focus on removing litter, clearing illegal dump debris and pulling invasive weeds from public spaces.

Several of the cleanup locations include:

  • Teglia’s Paradise Park – 2745 Elementary Dr., Reno
  • Salmon Circle – 340 Salmon Circle, Sparks
  • Rancho San Rafael Regional Park (Family Center) – 1595 N Sierra St., Reno
  • Chimney Rd. Illegal Dumpsite – 6100 Chimney Dr., Sun Valley, where organizers recommend volunteers bring an off road capable car.

“Trash attracts more trash. The faster we clean it, the better. This is one day where the community visibly changes the region,” said Darcy Phillips, KTMB executive director.

Organizers say the impact of the event has been significant in past years. In the most recent cleanup, more than 1,000 volunteers removed nearly 100 tons of waste from across the region.

Volunteers are still needed, especially people who can bring trucks or trailers to help haul debris from illegal dump sites. Anyone interested can sign up through KTMB’s website.

The event is supported by several local and regional partners, including the Truckee River Fund through the Community Foundation of Northern Nevada, Northern Nevada Public Health, local governments and federal land management agencies.
