The Washoe County Sheriff’s Office made 203 DUI arrests from January through June, according to a Facebook post shared by the department.
Of those arrests, 178 were for first-time offenses, 21 were for second-time offenses, and four were for third-time offenses.
Thirty-eight of the arrests were connected to DUI-related crashes.
The post stated that the average blood alcohol concentration among those arrested was 0.17, more than double the legal limit.
DUI enforcement is part of the Washoe County Sheriff’s Office's Stratified Policing Goals, the department said. The post added, “Every impaired driver on the road puts lives at risk. These numbers represent proactive efforts to prevent tragedy before it happens.”
The agency also reminded the public to avoid impaired driving, writing, “Remember, there is never a good reason to endanger your life or the lives of others by driving under the influence. Together, we can help keep our community safe, designate a sober driver, use ride-share options, or take public transportation. Stay safe, Washoe!”
