As January approaches, Carson City officials are reminding local property owners about an upcoming tax deadline that follows a statewide schedule set by Nevada law.
The Carson City Treasurer’s Office says the third installment of real property taxes for Nevada property owners for the current tax year is due on or before Monday, January 5, 2026.
The tax year runs from July 1, 2025, through June 30, 2026. Nevada law establishes the installment dates and penalties for late or missed payments for property owners throughout the state.
While this reminder applies specifically to Carson City taxpayers, property taxes in Nevada are handled at the local level. Property owners pay taxes to their county or city treasurer’s office rather than directly to the state.
General information about how property taxes work statewide is available through the Nevada Department of Taxation.
Carson City property owners have several ways to make payments. Payments can be made online at https://link.edgepilot.com/s/7d2e4910/eg1qHc-yTkiSdVEMPzGFqg?u=http://www.carson.org/taxes through Wednesday, January 7, 2026.
Beginning Thursday, January 8, 2026, payments will be accepted at carsoncity.gov/taxes.
Payments can also be submitted through online bill pay with a bank, with the property parcel number included.
In-person or mailed payments are accepted at the Carson City Treasurer’s Office at 201 N. Carson City, Suite five, Carson City, Nevada 89701. A green payment box is also available on the east side of City Hall.
The Treasurer’s Office reminds people with a mortgage to confirm whether their lender submits property tax payments on their behalf.
Carson City officials are also asking property and business owners to check the payment status of their water, sewer, and stormwater accounts.
While the city says it generally does not shut off water for delinquent payments, unpaid balances are transferred to real property taxes when the new tax bill is issued in July.
For example, if a property owes $300 in delinquent water, sewer, or stormwater charges by the end of June 2026 and the balance remains unpaid, that $300 will be transferred to the new real property tax bill issued in July 2026. The charge appears as a special assessment on the parcel. If taxes are paid through a mortgage impound account, the added amount may increase the mortgage payment.
Questions about Carson City property taxes or water, sewer, and stormwater account balances can be directed to the Carson City Treasurer’s Office at 775-887-2092 or treasurer@carsoncity.gov.
