A woman was shot and killed at an apartment complex in Sparks early Thursday morning.
It happened on Lincoln Way just after 4:20 a.m. according to a release from the Sparks Police Department.
A call to 911 alerted officers to an incident involving a person with a gun.
As police responded it was reported that several shots were fired.
When officers arrived a man directed them to a woman who had been shot. Officers and first responders with REMSA and the Sparks Fire Department attempted life-saving measures, but she was pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigation by Sparks Police detectives revealed the incident involved the woman who had been shot and what the release describes as a "known adult male."
The two got into a fight according to the release and shots were fired by the male.
"It was learned the male was the original 911 caller and directed the officers to the female’s location when they arrived on scene," the release said.
The "involved male subject" stayed on scene and cooperated with investigators.
