A man allegedly driving a stolen car has been arrested following a car chase involving multiple law enforcement agencies that ended with shots being fired.

In the late morning of Sunday, February 4th deputies with the Mineral County Sheriff's Office were alerted about a stolen car. That suspected stolen car was found on U.S. 95 near mile marker 49.

The car pulled over to the shoulder of the highway while a deputy pulled behind the car. While the deputy confirmed the car was stolen a male suspect, later identified as Acea Napora, got out of the car and approached the deputy's car while yelling.

The deputy yelled orders back at the suspect, who then turned and ran back to the allegedly stolen car and sped off, according to a release from the Mineral County Sheriff's Office.

A chase ensued northbound on U.S. 95, with the Mineral County Sheriff's Office requesting help from multiple agencies, including Walker River Tribal Police, who tried unsuccessfully to use a spike strip to stop the suspected stolen car.

The Churchill County Sheriff's Office and Fallon Police Department also provided help, setting spike strips on U.S. 95 at Pasture Road in Churchill County.

The suspect saw those strips and made a U-turn heading southbound on U.S. 95. He made a second U-turn a short time later, heading northbound again.

As the suspect approached the spikes a second time, he drove onto the east dirt shoulder behind a guardrail with an irrigation ditch on the other side. The suspect U-turned again, heading southbound.

At this point an officer with Walker River Tribal Police fired multiple shots at the car. The car stopped and the driver was taken into custody.

Nobody was injured in the incident, but U.S. 95 was closed for hours while the Nevada Division of Investigations investigated the shooting.

The suspect, Acea Napora, has a criminal history that includes two DUI arrests in California on January 19th and February 2nd of this year, as well as an arrest for felony eluding in Washington on July 21st of 2023.

All of those cases are still pending.
