A man who walked into a local casino last year and shot his ex-girlfriend’s new boyfriend, has been sentenced to 41 years in prison.
The Washoe County District Attorney's Office says Joshua Slater-King previously pleaded guilty to Attempted Murder with the Use of a Firearm, Assault with the Use of a Firearm, Burglary While in Possession of a Firearm, and Discharging a Firearm Within a Structure.
He will be eligible for parole after 12 years.
Authorities say Slater-King went into the bar at the Bonanza Casino, where his ex-girlfriend and her new boyfriend were sitting. He then pulled a gun out of his pocket and pistol-whipped the victim, which caused the gun to fire.
They say Slater-King then tried to shoot the man; however, the gun was jammed. After clearing the round, he fired several more times, striking the victim in the leg once, according to the DA's office.Â
