Authorities say they are moving from a rescue mission to a recovery mission after a midair collision between a military helicopter and a passenger jet Wednesday night near Ronald Reagan National Airport in Arlington, VA.

The plane carried 60 passengers and four crew members. Three soldiers were on board the helicopter.
The FAA is significantly restricting helicopter traffic in the immediate vicinity of Washington Reagan National Airport.
Wednesday’s crash was the deadliest in the U.S. since Nov. 12, 2001, when a jet slammed into a New York City neighborhood just after takeoff.
