At least 47 people have been killed and dozens of buildings have collapsed in cities across western Colombia after a powerful 7.4-magnitude earthquake struck the South American nation. The quake caused serious damage to buildings and prompted evacuations as far away as Bogota. The epicenter of Monday’s quake is in San Jose Del Palmar, about 25 miles west of Bogota. Footage shows homes and buildings collapsing in cities including Pereira, Cali, and Quibdo. Colombian President Abelardo de la Espriella says he will personally oversee recovery efforts. The quake was also felt in neighboring Ecuador.
