Americans have begun casting ballots across much of the country on the final day of voting in the U.S. midterm elections. The process was mostly smooth, even as flooding in Florida and parts of the Southwest were leading to some changes to polling locations. In New York's Westchester County, where some voters are casting ballots in a competitive U.S. House race, an issue with voting machines accepting paper ballots was requiring ballots to be diverted to emergency bags for later counting, but voting was ongoing. The final day of voting arrives against a backdrop of uncertainty after a year in which President Donald Trump has tried to interfere in how states run their elections. Trump also has continued to push unfounded claims of election cheating.
